Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, a prominent religious leader from Jammu and Kashmir, on Wednesday voiced significant concern regarding the reported loss of lives during recent protests in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK). The remarks followed news that over 20 individuals were allegedly killed in police actions against demonstrators across various areas of PoK.
"I am deeply disturbed by the news coming from across the Line of Control," Mirwaiz stated, describing the killings as "extremely sad." He emphasized that governments should refrain from using force to address public grievances and demands, noting that public protests signal a desire to be heard.
