A marine drone, of a type utilized in the war in neighboring Ukraine, self-detonated on Friday in Romania's Black Sea port of Constanta, near an oil terminal. Romania's defense ministry confirmed the incident, stating there were no casualties. Following the detonation, the port was evacuated, and residents along the Black Sea coast were advised to seek shelter. Two helicopters were deployed to survey the area for any additional drones. Deputy Interior Minister Raed Arafat emphasized that the measures were preventative, acknowledging the risk of self-detonation. This event follows a prior incident where a Russian drone crashed into an apartment building in Galati, injuring two people. Romania, a NATO and EU member, has reported numerous drone incursions into its airspace since Russia began attacking Ukrainian ports on the Danube.
