Security forces in Manipur have apprehended six individuals, comprising three militants from the banned People's Liberation Army (PLA) and two drug peddlers. The arrests were made during separate operations across Kakching and Imphal West districts.
Authorities recovered a cache of weapons and incriminating materials, including a 9mm pistol, 18 live rounds, four detonators, and two remote-control devices suspected for use in Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs), along with PLA flags and banners. In a separate significant operation in Thoubal district, security forces, including Assam Rifles, discovered a large quantity of arms, ammunition, and combat gear. This included a .32 pistol, two single-barrel guns, 71 live rounds, bulletproof plates, numerous combat uniforms, and accessories.
Director General of Police (DGP) Mukesh Singh visited the Imphal East District Police Headquarters to review the law-and-order situation, crime trends, and operational readiness. During the meeting, the DGP stressed the importance of thorough investigations, effective supervision by senior officers, and the swift resolution of criminal cases. He also emphasized proactive policing, intensified anti-insurgency efforts, and decisive action against anti-social and anti-national elements, while underscoring the need for discipline and professionalism within the police force.
