Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) announced on Monday that it had targeted and destroyed US maritime surveillance and long-range air surveillance radar systems located in Oman. The IRGC stated these actions were part of a series of retaliatory military operations against US assets in the region, in response to recent American attacks on southern Iran, including an agricultural water pump in Mahshahr County.
According to a statement from the IRGC Navy, the operations successfully destroyed the FPS long-range air surveillance radar and the maritime detection radar in the Sultanate of Oman through coordinated missile and drone strikes. The IRGC also claimed to have struck US military facilities in Juffair, Bahrain, Prince Hassan Air Base in Jordan, and a US HIMARS missile base in Kuwait, reporting significant damage and fires at these locations.
The IRGC reiterated its stance that the resolution for restoring navigation through the Strait of Hormuz lies in the US ending its military interference and respecting regional sovereignty. The corps warned that continued US intervention would lead to "greater consequences" impacting the global oil and gas sectors. The claims made by the IRGC have not been independently verified, and Omani authorities have not confirmed any attack on radar systems within the Sultanate.
