Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf has stated that implementing the ceasefire agreement with the United States is a difficult but achievable goal. Ghalibaf made these remarks while speaking with Muhammad Ismail Darwish, the head of Hamas's political bureau, who was in Tehran for the funeral of the late Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
During their meeting, Ghalibaf reiterated Iran's stance of not having peace with America and not recognizing Israel. He also reaffirmed Iran's support for the 'resistance front,' a term used by Tehran to refer to regional armed groups it backs. Ghalibaf indicated that this support can manifest as missile support or political pressure through negotiations, according to Iranian state broadcaster IRIB.
Meanwhile, massive crowds, numbering in the hundreds of thousands, packed the streets of Tehran for the funeral procession of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. CNN reported witnessing mourners vowing revenge against the U.S. and Israel. Khamenei's son and successor, Mojtaba, has not yet made a public appearance. Former President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, who has been estranged from the late leader for years, was also present at the funeral.
