Iran's parliamentary speaker and chief negotiator, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, has rejected increased US pressure on Tehran, stating that Washington is mistaken in its belief that tougher measures will secure additional concessions.
In a post on X, Ghalibaf said, “Americans think squeezing Iran harder will win concessions that were never part of the agreement.” He also criticized US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent and War Secretary Pete Hegseth, describing them as “way out of their league.” Ghalibaf urged them to "Stop waiting for the clown crew to pull a rabbit out of their hat and clean up the mess you made."
These comments come amid ongoing tensions between Washington and Tehran regarding negotiations and the terms of a potential agreement. Separately, the United Arab Emirates reported that its air defenses detected two ballistic missiles launched from Iran, with one falling outside territorial waters and the second within them. Qatar's Foreign Ministry stated that mediators are awaiting a bilateral deal between Iran and Oman concerning the Strait of Hormuz before resuming broader talks between Iran and the US.
