Iran open to dialogue but warns against regional divisions

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has stated that Tehran is prepared to engage in dialogue to safeguard its national interests, but will not accept any demands that compromise its sovereignty or defensive capabilities. Speaking to the Iranian public, Pezeshkian stressed the importance of improving relations with neighboring countries and preventing divisions within the region.

Pezeshkian rejected claims that his administration had pressured the country's leadership to accept negotiations, emphasizing that Iran views Muslim countries as brothers and questioned the rationale for conflict among them. He warned that the United States and Israel were attempting to foster unity among Persian Gulf countries against Iran, an effort Tehran aimed to counter.

In a phone call with French President Emmanuel Macron, Pezeshkian reiterated Iran's openness to negotiations within the framework of international law, stating that progress in recent talks with the US had been hindered by "maximalist demands and lack of political will" on the American side. He also issued a strong warning regarding the Strait of Hormuz, stating that any threat to its security would have "broad consequences for global trade" and that Iran was prepared to respond to any scenario in line with its national interests.

Pezeshkian also highlighted the importance of national resilience, social cohesion, and harnessing Iran's scientific and human capabilities to advance national programs and bolster the country's strength against external pressures and threats.
