Iran ambassador meets four nationals detained in Kuwait

Iran's ambassador to Kuwait, Mohammad Toutounchi, met with four Iranian nationals who have been detained in Kuwait for three months, according to a statement from the Iranian Embassy in Kuwait posted on X. The meeting, which occurred after coordination with Kuwait's Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ministry of Interior, provided the ambassador with an update on the detainees' health and current condition.

This development follows recent accusations by an Iranian military official, Mohammad Baqerzadeh, commander of the Committee for the Search for Missing Persons of Iran's Armed Forces General Staff, who alleged that Kuwait was withholding information regarding the fate of the four men. Iran stated that the individuals were on a maritime patrol when they entered Kuwaiti territorial waters due to a navigation disruption. Kuwait, however, has indicated that the four are suspected of planning hostile actions against the country.
