An Indian national who went missing after an attack on the commercial vessel GFS Galaxy off the coast of Oman has been confirmed dead, his father-in-law stated. Of the 11 Indian nationals on board the GFS Galaxy, 10 were rescued, according to the Indian foreign ministry.
Separately, three Indian seafarers were killed following a US strike on the commercial vessel MT Settebello off the coast of Oman. India issued a demarche, a diplomatic note of protest, to the US charge d'affaires over the incident. The US Central Command acknowledged the strike, stating it was part of the ongoing US blockade of Iranian ports and that the vessel was attempting to transport oil from Iran. The Minister of Ports, Shipping and Waterways, Sarbananda Sonowal, confirmed the deaths and expressed condolences, directing officials to ensure the repatriation of rescued crew and the return of the deceased's remains. The Forward Seamen's Union of India had earlier confirmed the deaths of two seafarers, with one chief engineer reported missing.
