Hong Kong health authorities have identified at least five Mpox cases connected to a gay sauna and fitness club in Mong Kok. The establishment, known as Hutong, located on Shanghai Street, has been temporarily shuttered since May 26 as health officials conduct investigations.
According to the Centre for Health Protection, the five individuals, which include two cases previously confirmed by mainland Chinese authorities, all reportedly engaged in high-risk activities with strangers at the sauna. The ongoing epidemiological investigation aims to trace contacts and understand the extent of the outbreak linked to the venue. Health authorities have also initiated a targeted vaccination outreach program for high-risk groups and contacted over 300 individuals who visited the venue since May for medical surveillance.
