The Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) has strongly condemned reported Iranian attacks on two Emirati oil tankers in the Strait of Hormuz. GCC Secretary-General Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi described the incident as a hostile act, a flagrant violation of international law, and an explicit violation of UN Security Council Resolution 2817, which calls for the protection of international navigation.
Albudaiwi stated that the GCC stands firmly with the United Arab Emirates and urged the international community, particularly the UN Security Council, to take decisive action to halt further attacks. He also stressed the importance of ensuring the safety of international shipping lanes and maintaining stability in the strategically vital Strait of Hormuz, reiterating the bloc's support for all measures taken by Abu Dhabi to safeguard its security and protect its national interests.
