A Ukrainian drone attack on Russia's Tula region on Wednesday morning resulted in a significant fire at a logistics hub belonging to the online retailer Wildberries. Tula regional governor Dmitry Milyayev confirmed the incident, stating that one person was injured. Wildberries acknowledged the strike, reporting that personnel were evacuated and delivery operations were rerouted.
In addition to the Wildberries facility in Aleksino, the drone attack also caused damage to two industrial sites in the Novomoskovsk and Uzlovaya areas, as well as two apartment buildings elsewhere in the Tula region. The exact nature of the strike, whether drones or missiles, remained unclear initially, though drone threats were active in the region for several hours.
Meanwhile, Russian forces launched an aerial assault on Ukraine's capital, Kyiv, early Wednesday, causing one death and injuring 24 people, with significant damage reported in several districts. Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin stated that air defense systems had intercepted 10 drones heading towards the Russian capital. Reports also emerged of potential attacks in Kazan, Republic of Tatarstan.
According to Forbes, as of August 3, Ukrainian forces had destroyed at least 17% of Wildberries' warehouse facilities in recent weeks, inflicting substantial losses on the company.
