A convicted child killer, Kyle Bevan, was allegedly stabbed more than 30 times by three fellow inmates in a brutal five-minute attack inside HMP Wakefield. The Leeds Crown Court heard that Mark Fellows, 45, David Taylor, 64, and Lee Newell, 57, allegedly followed Bevan into his cell and carried out the assault. Prosecutors stated the trio appeared "satisfied" on surveillance footage as they left the cell.
Prosecutor Jason Pitter told jurors that Bevan sustained over 30 stab wounds from at least one sharp weapon during the attack, which lasted approximately four minutes and 39 seconds. Bevan, who was serving a life sentence for the 2020 murder of his two-year-old stepdaughter, was found dead in his cell the morning after the November assault. He had reportedly "kept to himself" in prison.
Following the attack, Bevan was allegedly moved to his bed where he bled to death. Prison guards discovered his body during a roll call. Investigators reportedly found a piece of metal with Bevan's blood on it stashed behind a television in his cell, and other weapons were discovered in Taylor's cell hidden in a bottle of chili sauce. Fellows and Newell were already serving life sentences for murder prior to this incident.
