A Palestinian child was killed and another wounded by an Israeli drone in Gaza as they collected water, according to Gaza's civil defence agency. The agency stated that an Israeli quadcopter drone dropped a bomb on them behind Al-Omari Mosque east of Gaza City.
In a separate incident, Mahmoud Abdul Rahman Ahmed recounted how his son, Abdullah, was killed while searching for water in the Nuseirat refugee camp. Al-Awda hospital in Nuseirat reported that 10 people, including six children, were killed and 16 others injured in that strike. The Israeli military stated it had targeted a Palestinian Islamic Jihad "terrorist" but that a "technical error" caused the munition to land dozens of meters from its target. The military said it was aware of the reports of casualties and "regrets any harm to uninvolved civilians," adding that the incident is under review.
Palestinian health authorities reported that at least 13 people, including seven children, were killed in an Israeli strike in the Al-Mawasi area of the Gaza Strip as they tried to collect drinking water. The Israeli military initially stated it had no record of strikes in that area but later said a strike targeting a "key" Hamas member was conducted in western Khan Younis and was under review.
The UN states that water shortages in Gaza are worsening due to lack of fuel, insecurity, and inaccessibility caused by Israeli military operations. Many people are receiving less than the emergency standard of 15 liters per day.
