Amnesty International has accused Israel of conducting a state-sponsored campaign of "ethnic cleansing" against Palestinians in the occupied West Bank, urging global action. The human rights group released a 149-page report alleging that forced displacement and dispossession of Palestinian communities are part of a deliberate policy.
Meanwhile, international tensions remain high as two dozen Palestinian patients and their companions departed Gaza for medical treatment abroad via the Rafah crossing. The Palestinian Health Ministry highlighted that many more patients are awaiting evacuation due to the destruction of Gaza's health system.
In a separate development, a blaze on a tanker off Oman, believed to be a Palau-flagged chemical-oil products tanker, is suspected to be the result of a US missile strike aimed at blockading Iranian ports. Two Indian seamen are missing from the crew of 28.
The fragile ceasefire between the United States and Iran, brokered in April, is reportedly in increasing jeopardy following retaliatory strikes. Iran launched missile-and-drone attacks on US bases in Jordan, Kuwait, and Bahrain in response to earlier American strikes around the Strait of Hormuz. US President Donald Trump has warned Iran that it has taken too long to negotiate and must now "pay the price," even suggesting potential attacks on Iran's power plants and bridges.
Mediators including Qatar, Pakistan, and Turkiye are actively working to keep the parties engaged in negotiations to end the broader conflict. Analysts suggest the US might be adopting a softer approach towards Hezbollah in Lebanon as part of efforts to secure a deal with Iran. Israel's actions in southern Lebanon continue, with air strikes on Sidon and Tyre resulting in casualties. Since early March, Israeli attacks across Lebanon have claimed the lives of at least 3,696 people.
