President Donald Trump announced on Truth Social that his administration's TrumpRx.gov initiative has expanded to include an additional 160 prescription drugs, bringing the total number of discounted medications available through the program to over 800. Trump stated that the website will now offer clear, transparent, and discounted pricing for four out of every five prescriptions filled by Americans. The program, launched in February, is based on 'most-favored-nation' pricing agreements finalized with 16 major pharmaceutical companies. These agreements reportedly provide tariff-related exemptions to drugmakers in exchange for lowering prices on certain medications and extending discounts to eligible cash-paying consumers. Companies such as Eli Lilly and Novo Nordisk are participating, offering reduced prices on popular GLP-1 weight-loss medications, as well as discounts on other products like inhalers, HIV treatments, diabetes medications, and fertility drugs. Trump claimed the program has already saved American patients over $400 million and attributed the success of the 'Most Favored Nations' deals to his use of tariffs, which he believes compel other countries to contribute to lower prices. He instructed his administration to secure more such deals and partnerships to lower prices for all American patients.
