This significant event, organized by the Federation of Industry & Commerce of North Eastern Region (FINER) and hosted by the Government of Meghalaya, aims to establish itself as a premier platform for infrastructure and investment in the region.
NEIINFRA 2026 is designed to bring together a diverse group of stakeholders, including policymakers, industry leaders, investors, infrastructure developers, financial institutions, and technology innovators. The primary objective is to explore opportunities that will drive the future development of Northeast India, catalyze investments, strengthen public-private partnerships, and accelerate the creation of critical infrastructure. Key focus areas include enhancing regional connectivity, economic integration, and sustainable development.
Union Minister for Road Transport & Highways, Nitin Gadkari, and Conrad K. Sangma, Chief Minister of Meghalaya, are among the high-profile attendees. The summit will also see participation from officials representing eight Union Ministries, Chief Ministers, and senior officials from all Northeastern states. Discussions will center on infrastructure-led growth strategies for the region.
Organizers emphasize the summit's role in positioning Northeast India as a vital contributor to India's infrastructure expansion and economic development agenda. Specific sectors targeted for development include roads and highways, tourism infrastructure, industrial infrastructure, digital infrastructure, and aviation and airports. Atul Kulkarni from IIM Shillong, the knowledge partner, highlighted the transformative phase Northeast India is entering, with infrastructure development playing a crucial role in improving connectivity and attracting investments. Vaibhav Dange, Founder of Build India, noted that the summit is anticipated to draw over 800 delegates, providing a platform for networking, investment discussions, and business development. Union Ministers Kinjarapu Rammohan Naidu and Gajendra Singh Shekhawat have also been invited to attend the second day of the event.
