An Indian Army helicopter conducted a trial landing at the Tirunelveli Armed Reserve Ground as part of heightened security measures for the upcoming NEET-UG 2026 re-examination. The examination, scheduled for June 21, was re-announced after the previous session was cancelled due to allegations of question paper leakage.
To prevent further leaks and ensure a fair examination process, authorities have planned to transport question papers to examination centers at the last minute via helicopter. The papers will be flown from Delhi to Madurai by aircraft and subsequently transferred to Tirunelveli by an Indian Army helicopter, escorted by Air Force officials. A mock drill was executed to validate these security protocols.
In parallel, the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), acting on recommendations from the NTA and the Department of Higher Education, has restricted access to the Telegram platform in India until June 22. This measure, implemented under Section 69A of the Information Technology Act, 2000, aims to curb organized cheating. Additionally, Telegram has been directed to disable its message-editing feature in India until June 30, 2026, to counter the use of the platform for fabricating evidence of paper leaks. The NTA has urged candidates to rely on official channels for information and report any fraudulent solicitations.
