The Indian government has decided to extend anti-dumping duties on aluminium foil imported from China, Malaysia, Thailand, and Indonesia. The duties will now remain in effect until December 15, 2026, a move that comes after requests from domestic companies such as Hindalco Industries and SRF Altech.
The Ministry of Finance issued a notification amending a previous order from September 16, 2021. This amendment ensures that the anti-dumping duty continues to be enforced up to and including the new expiry date.
These duties were initially imposed based on recommendations from the Directorate General of Trade Remedies (DGTR). The DGTR's findings indicated that the domestic industry had suffered material injury due to the dumping of these goods at unfairly low prices, constituting unfair trade practices.
