The meetings, held on June 11 and 12, also addressed the Final Location Survey report for the Raxaul-Kathmandu broad gauge railway and the progress of the Jaynagar-Bijalpura-Bardibas and Jogbani-Biratnagar lines, which are being developed with Indian assistance.
Technical support for the East-West Railway Link, connecting Nepal's southern Terai districts, was also a topic of discussion. The Janakpur-Ayodhya section is significant as Janakpur is considered the birthplace of Sita, wife of Lord Ram, and is a pilgrimage site visited by many from both countries.
