Two infants in Hong Kong have been confirmed severely infected with Covid-19 within days of each other, with one currently in critical condition. The Centre for Health Protection at the Department of Health reported that both boys, aged one year and 11 months, were unvaccinated but had good past health.
The one-year-old boy developed a fever, cough, and runny nose on June 2, progressing to symptoms of stridor, an upper airway blockage. He was admitted to Alice Ho Miu Ling Nethersole Hospital on June 4 and later transferred to the paediatric intensive care unit at Prince of Wales Hospital due to severe croup symptoms. His diagnosis was Covid-19 complicated with croup.
