Canadian billionaire Frank Stronach, 93, has been found guilty of one count of sexual assault and one count of indecent assault in Toronto. The convictions stem from incidents involving two women that allegedly occurred in the late 1970s and early 1980s. Ontario Superior Court Justice Anne Molloy delivered the verdict, describing some of Stronach's behavior as "gross and disgusting."
Stronach, the founder of auto parts giant Magna International, was charged in 2024 with offenses including sexual assault and rape, with allegations dating from the 1970s to 2024. Justice Molloy found him guilty of sexually assaulting a woman in the early 1980s and of indecently assaulting another woman in the late 1970s. He was found not guilty on other charges, including attempted rape and rape.
Stronach, who relinquished control of Magna in 2010, did not testify during the trial. His defense team expressed disappointment with the convictions on what they described as "very minor offenses" but were pleased that more serious charges were dismissed. Stronach will be sentenced at a later date and faces another sexual assault trial next year.
