Child swallows wires in cake decorations in Mumbai

Two older children biting into the cake first detected the hard objects. Upon contacting the baker, the family learned of the metal wires' presence, by which time the toddler had already ingested two. Alarmed, the family took the child to Jupiter Hospital, where an X-ray confirmed the wires had reached his small intestine. Doctors decided to monitor the situation closely, and fortunately, the wires passed naturally within 48 hours without causing any internal damage or injury.

Reyaansh's mother, Sneha Shelar, shared the experience on social media to warn other parents, urging bakeries to disclose the use of non-edible materials and advising parents to inspect cakes carefully. While no police complaint was filed, the incident has spurred online discussions about transparency in food preparation and the potential risks posed by hidden non-edible components in cakes, especially for young children. Other bakers commented on the importance of informing clients about such materials.
