Seattle-based Carbon Robotics is introducing its Carbon Autonomous Tractor Kit (ATK), a modular system designed to bring AI-driven autonomy to large-acre farming operations. Unlike systems focused on smaller spaces like greenhouses or vineyards, the ATK is built for broadacre agriculture, including tasks such as pulling implements for tilling, cultivating, and forming beds.
The ATK can be attached to specific John Deere tractor models (6R, 8R, 8RX, and 8RT series from 2019 onwards) without requiring permanent modifications. The system features 360-degree cameras, LiDAR, radar, and AI for detecting implement issues. A key aspect of its operation is its reliance on visual data and AI, powered by Nvidia technology, rather than solely GPS, allowing for tasks like furrow following without extensive row marking.
