Serhii Koretskyi, the current CEO of the state oil and gas company Naftogaz, met with President Volodymyr Zelensky’s Servant of the People faction in parliament on July 15. The meeting, announced by faction head David Arakhamia, comes after Zelensky's decision on July 12 to reshuffle the Cabinet of Ministers. Parliament had approved the dismissal of Prime Minister Yuliia Svyrydenko on July 14, paving the way for Koretskyi's expected nomination. Arakhamia highlighted Koretskyi's extensive experience in both corporate and public sectors, specifically mentioning his track record at Ukrnafta and Naftogaz. He noted that natural gas remained the sole reliable energy source supplied to consumers during the past heating season, despite Russian attacks on production and storage facilities. Arakhamia believes this experience will be crucial as Ukraine prepares for a potentially difficult winter. During the meeting, Koretskyi stated that the government's top priorities would focus on social support for the public, ensuring readiness for the upcoming heating season, strengthening the Defense Forces, and protecting critical infrastructure.
