Senior officials from the European Union and Hong Kong are engaged in discussions to initiate a financial services dialogue, as stated by Ambassador Harvey Rouse, the EU's top representative in the city. The initiative aims to bolster cooperation between the two entities, particularly in the burgeoning fields of green and sustainable finance.
Rouse highlighted that Hong Kong has solidified its position as a premier hub for green finance in Asia. He emphasized that both the EU and Hong Kong, as leaders in this sector, have a significant opportunity to enhance their collaborative efforts. "Senior exchanges between Hong Kong and the European Commission have intensified over the past year with visits of EU officials to Hong Kong and vice versa. Both sides are looking at starting soon a financial services dialogue to enhance cooperation," Rouse remarked at the Greenway 2026 forum.
