Harry Brook has claimed the top spot in the ICC Men's Test batting rankings, overtaking his England teammate Joe Root. This marks Brook's return to the premier position, which he first achieved in December 2024. His recent half-century in the first innings of the ICC World Test Championship match against New Zealand at Lord's, which England won by 115 runs, was instrumental in his climb.
Joe Root's performance in the same match, with scores of one and eight across his innings, led to his slip in the rankings. Australia's Travis Head has now moved into second place, with Root falling to third. The rankings update also saw notable movements for other players. Shubman Gill of India rose to eighth after a century against Afghanistan, while Ben Duckett of England moved to 15th.
In the bowling rankings, England's Gus Atkinson climbed seven places to reach 10th. Pacers Kyle Jamieson and Ollie Robinson returned to the Test bowling rankings, and Nathan Smith advanced to 43rd. Australia's Nathan Ellis and Bangladesh's Nahid Rana also made gains in the ODI bowling charts.
