Ripple has obtained a full Crypto-Asset Service Provider (CASP) license in Luxembourg, authorized by the Commission de Surveillance du Secteur Financier (CSSF) under the European Union's Markets in Crypto-Assets (MiCA) framework. This upgrade from its preliminary approval permits Ripple to offer regulated digital asset services throughout the European Economic Area (EEA).
Cassie Craddock, Ripple's managing director for the UK and Europe, stated that the CASP authorization signifies Ripple's readiness to scale operations in the post-MiCA era, meeting demand from institutions seeking regulated partners for digital asset services. The company is now among a limited number of digital asset firms to achieve full MiCA compliance, which became fully effective on July 1, requiring firms to cease operations if unlicensed.
This development follows Ripple's earlier acquisition of an Electronic Money Institution (EMI) license in Luxembourg in February, enhancing its regulated payment services across the EU. The company noted this new approval increases its global regulatory presence, with over 75 licenses and registrations worldwide supporting its cross-border payments and digital asset infrastructure business.
