Caleb & Brown's expansion into the UK signals a strategic move by crypto brokerages to target sophisticated investors in markets with perceived lower adoption but high growth potential, potentially increasing institutional interest in digital assets.
Caleb & Brown, an Australian-based cryptocurrency brokerage owned by Swyftx Group, has officially entered the United Kingdom market. The firm, which was acquired by Swyftx in 2025 for over $100 million, will focus on providing services to high-net-worth individuals.
Andrea Yuen, co-CEO of Swyftx Group, stated that the UK represents a significant, untapped market with considerably lower cryptocurrency adoption rates compared to other major regions like the US, Asia, and Australia. She highlighted this disparity as a compelling growth opportunity for the company.
Data from Chainalysis' 2025 Global Crypto Adoption Index places the UK at 11th globally, behind countries such as Russia, the Philippines, and Ukraine. The UK's Financial Conduct Authority previously estimated that 8% of the population owns crypto, a figure that has seen a decrease in the number of owners but an increase in the typical value held by investors.
Yuen further commented that the UK market is underserved by specialized digital asset offerings for private clients, despite being a major global financial center. She believes Caleb & Brown's personalized service and tailored execution model will appeal to investors who may find the standard retail crypto exchange model less suitable.
