Hackers have compromised the personal data of approximately 200,000 customers of Israel's largest cryptocurrency broker, Bits of Gold. The breach occurred through unauthorized access to a third-party data analytics network, according to a company statement.
The exposed information includes customer names, national ID numbers, email addresses, phone numbers, IP addresses, and bank account details. However, Bits of Gold emphasized that no funds, private keys, passwords, CVV codes, or scanned identification documents were accessed.
This incident is the third significant data breach to affect the cryptocurrency industry in the past week. Previously, nearly 40,000 SafePal users were impacted by a breach at an external vendor, and around 14,000 Trezor wallet customers had their data exposed following a compromise at their fulfillment partner, ShipMonk.
Bits of Gold, founded in 2013 and holding a permanent Financial Services Provider license in Israel, stated that its security team has initiated a comprehensive investigation with the assistance of a specialized cybersecurity firm. The company assured customers that their digital assets and funds remain safe and were not involved in the incident.
