Romanian logistics group TTS has finalized a €23 million expansion of its Canopus grain terminal located in the Port of Constanta. This project significantly increases the terminal's storage capacity from 110,000 tonnes to 180,000 tonnes.
The expansion, which took place between January 20, 2025, and July 15, 2026, involved the construction of six new grain storage cells, each with a capacity of 11,000 tonnes, and five buffer silos, each holding 825 tonnes. Additionally, the project included a new intake point for cargo arriving by barge, equipment for one of two new truck-unloading stations, and conveyors and elevators to connect the new installations with the existing terminal. Three scales were also installed on the shiploading line.
The terminal is equipped to receive agricultural cargoes via barge and truck, with each unloading station capable of handling 400 tonnes per hour. For loading onto seagoing vessels, two existing shiploaders can each transfer 800 tonnes per hour. The investment was financed with approximately 35% from TTS's own resources and the remainder through a bank loan.
TTS, founded in 1997, is a diversified logistics provider specializing in agricultural products, mineral raw materials, and chemical cargoes. The group operates a substantial river fleet and multiple terminals along the Danube and in Constanta. Canopus Star Constanța, the entity that executed the expansion, is a joint venture between TTS and Cargill Agricultura SRL, focusing on agricultural commodity handling.
