Ag Processing Inc. (AGP) has achieved a significant milestone with the first-ever U.S. unit train shipment of soybean oil from its facility in David City, Nebraska. This development underscores AGP's commitment to value-added agriculture and the growing demand for renewable fuels.
The David City plant, which commenced operations in 2025 as AGP's eleventh soybean processing facility, is equipped to efficiently load unit trains of both soybean meal and soybean oil, enhancing domestic supply chains and customer service. The achievement aligns with the expansion of the renewable fuels sector, particularly following the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) finalization of Renewable Fuel Standard (RFS) biomass-based diesel volumes.
Courtney Lawrenson, Senior Vice President of Oils & Energy for AGP, stated that the improved logistics for moving soybean oil strengthen the renewable fuels supply chain and create additional value for cooperative owners and their farmer-members. Dean Thernes, Chairman of the AGP Board of Directors, emphasized the cooperative's responsibility to create value for members' soybeans through innovation and investment, supporting American energy markets.
This milestone occurs as AGP celebrates the 30th anniversary of its biodiesel business, which began in 1996. The cooperative has consistently invested in infrastructure to support the U.S. renewable fuels industry. The David City facility features over 13 miles of rail, offering significant logistical flexibility.
