ADNOC Logistics and Services (ADNOC L&S) has placed a $900 million order for four new LNG carriers, aiming to expand its global fleet and capitalize on the rising demand for liquefied natural gas. The vessels will be constructed at Jiangnan Shipyard in Shanghai, China, with deliveries expected in 2029.
This significant investment brings ADNOC L&S' total LNG newbuild program to 18 vessels. The company has already taken delivery of six LNG carriers valued at $1.2 billion, with five deployed on long-term contracts with ADNOC Gas. An additional eight LNG carriers, representing an investment of $2.5 billion, are currently under construction at Samsung Heavy Industries and Hanwha Ocean, scheduled for delivery from 2028 and contracted on 20-year charters to ADNOC Gas.
The new vessels are intended to enhance ADNOC L&S' capacity to deliver LNG globally, supporting ADNOC's broader strategy to reach 47 million tonnes per annum of combined marketable LNG by 2035. This expansion aligns with recent long-term deals, including a 15-year agreement with Japanese firm Inpex for gas supply from the Ruwais LNG project starting in 2028.
