Chevron has entered into a five-year agreement to supply Australian utility Alinta Energy with 46 petajoules (PJ) of natural gas from its Western Australian portfolio. The deal, announced by Alinta, extends a pre-existing relationship between the two companies.
Gas supply is scheduled to commence in July 2027. The fuel will be sourced from Chevron's Wheatstone and Gorgon liquefied natural gas (LNG) projects, as well as its stake in the North West Shelf fields, all located offshore in Western Australia's Pilbara region.
This new agreement comes ahead of the expiration of a previous seven-year deal between Alinta and Chevron, which provided 20 PJ per year starting in 2020. Alinta Energy was acquired by Singapore-based Sembcorp Industries earlier this year. Alinta is also planning to construct a 400MW gas-fired power station in Western Australia, with operations expected to begin in late 2028.
