Archer Daniels Midland Company (ADM) announced a series of investments aimed at expanding its North American oilseed crush capacity, driven by robust demand for renewable fuels and other vegetable oil markets. The company expects to unlock approximately 700,000 metric tons of annual crush capacity through targeted improvements at its facilities in Frankfort, Indiana; Deerfield, Missouri; Lincoln, Nebraska; and Spiritwood, North Dakota. ADM is also evaluating similar enhancements at other North American crush locations.
In a separate but related development, ADM committed $420 million to expand soybean processing capacity at its Decatur, Illinois complex. This investment is projected to increase crush volumes by approximately 15% by 2027. The expansion includes new extraction lines, upgraded storage systems, and logistics improvements designed to accelerate throughput and reduce turnaround times.
ADM attributes the strong demand to U.S. biofuels policy, which supports the use of soybean oil as a key feedstock for renewable fuels. The company views increased crush capacity as a strategic advantage, allowing for greater flexibility in allocating oil to energy markets or food and export channels, and strengthening its position in global protein meal markets.
