Ad-free streaming costs exceed $137 monthly as services hike prices

The cumulative monthly cost for ad-free streaming subscriptions from major services has now surpassed $137. This increase is largely driven by recent price adjustments, with Peacock being the latest to implement hikes across all its streaming tiers.

Peacock's ad-supported "Select" plan will now cost $8.99 per month, its "Premium" tier will be $12.99 per month, and the ad-free "Premium Plus" plan is increasing to $19.99 per month. These new prices will be effective for new subscribers beginning August 18. Existing Peacock customers will see the price changes applied after September 17.

In response to these escalating subscription fees, consumers are increasingly exploring alternative viewing options. Many are opting for ad-supported tiers, which offer a lower price point, or turning to free streaming services that include advertisements. The trend indicates a growing consumer sensitivity to the rising expense of multiple streaming subscriptions.
