West Bengal to unveil new industry policy with land acquisition plans

The government's objective is to generate jobs through industrial expansion. Adhikari stated that access to credit for entrepreneurs will be facilitated through central schemes like PM Mudra Yojana, PM Vishwakarma, and PMEGP, offering low-interest, collateral-free loans. A target of creating 10 lakh 'Lakhpati Didis' through self-help groups has also been set for the current financial year.

In addition to industrial development, the government is reviewing welfare schemes to eliminate irregularities, citing issues found in programs like Lakshmir Bhandar and minority scholarships. Furthermore, approximately 6.5 crore people across 1.43 crore families will gain health coverage of up to Rs 5 lakh under the Ayushman Bharat scheme starting in July.

Adhikari also emphasized a focus on law and order, warning of strict action against illegal activities such as syndicates, extortion, and 'cut money' practices, vowing to uphold the rule of law.
