United Airlines is set to introduce a new premium seating option, dubbed 'Eurobusiness,' on its upcoming Airbus A321XLR aircraft. This configuration will feature blocked middle seats, separated by a permanently fixed tray table, offering passengers additional elbow room and shared table space. The seats will be situated in the airline's Economy Plus section, which already provides extra legroom.
The airline stated that the tray table will have a soft leather-like covering and two indentations for cups. This European-style business class offering aims to provide an enhanced comfort experience for travelers on longer routes. United plans to staff five flight attendants on most transatlantic flights utilizing these new aircraft, consistent with its practice on the Boeing 757s they are replacing.
This move is part of a broader strategy by United to expand premium options across its fleet, including new business class suites and a 'Relax Row' in coach. The 'Eurobusiness' concept has been adopted by European carriers for decades on short-haul flights, often including amenities like free luggage and lounge access. United is exploring the possibility of implementing similar seating arrangements on other aircraft in the future.
