Spirit Airlines' recently constructed headquarters in Dania Beach, Florida, is slated for auction on July 22, two years after its completion. The budget carrier, which built the four-building, 8.5-acre campus named Spirit Central in 2024 for $275 million, filed for bankruptcy in late 2024 and ceased operations last month.
The auction, to be held at a New York City law office, offers potential buyers the chance to acquire the entire complex or specific portions. The deadline for initial expressions of interest, including potential stalking horse bids, is June 24, with the final bid deadline on July 20.
The campus features a 180,000-square-foot office building designed for over 1,000 employees, an amenity building with a gym and café, and an in-flight and flight operations training facility that includes housing for up to 400 visiting workers. Spirit Airlines listed the land value at $33 million and the buildings at $228 million in its bankruptcy filings. The Broward County property appraiser valued the office, land, and building at $133 million.
Broward County commissioners are evaluating a bid for parts of the property, specifically the office building, parking garage, and flight simulator training building, with a maximum offer of $100 million. This potential acquisition could serve as a replacement for the county's current downtown Fort Lauderdale office. The headquarters auction is separate from the upcoming sales of Spirit's LaGuardia Airport slots and other assets like engines and equipment.
