This investment, which grants Sony a minority ownership stake, is part of Cosm's Series C financing round and signals Sony's intent to expand its film and television properties into experiential entertainment.
Cosm utilizes its proprietary 'Shared Reality' technology to project live events, including sports and concerts, onto large, wraparound LED screens within its dome venues. The company currently operates locations in Los Angeles, Dallas, and Atlanta, with plans to open new venues in Detroit and Cleveland, and additional U.S. and international sites soon.
The investment aligns with Sony Pictures' strategy to enhance fan engagement and explore new avenues for its intellectual property through immersive experiences.
