Revolut is set to expand its physical footprint in Europe with the introduction of its own airport lounges, beginning in 2027. The digital banking company has selected Copenhagen Airport for the debut of these premium spaces, which Hadi Nasrallah, director of Revolut’s New Bets division, described as a "perfect fit" for a "key growth market".
This move into the travel sector, in partnership with Plaza Premium Group, signifies Revolut's ambition to extend its reach beyond financial services and establish itself as a lifestyle brand. The company has previously announced plans for its first physical store in Barcelona and has been enhancing its subscription offerings with perks and services, including mobile plans and travel booking platforms.
The diversification strategy appears to be bolstering Revolut's financial performance. The firm reported a revenue of £4.2bn in the last year, marking a 46% increase from the previous year. Subscriptions were a significant contributor, generating £708m, a 67% year-on-year rise.
In recent developments, Revolut has also updated its premium subscriber benefits, replacing its Perplexity Pro plan with a partnership with ChatGPT. The fintech, founded in 2015, is currently in the process of a secondary share sale that is expected to value the company at $115bn, a substantial increase from its $75bn valuation last November.
