Renault Group and Thales are collaborating to develop a multi-mission military vehicle, dubbed 4 TROOP, aimed at supporting European rearmament efforts. The prototype will be showcased at the Eurosatory defence fair.

This partnership signifies Renault's strategic move into the defense sector, aligning with increased European investment in military capabilities and potentially opening new revenue streams for the automaker.
Renault Group is expanding its defense sector involvement through a new partnership with Thales to develop a multi-mission military vehicle. The collaboration aims to combine Renault's industrial manufacturing capabilities with Thales's expertise in secure communications technologies to create a rapidly producible and cost-effective platform.
The new vehicle, codenamed 4 TROOP, will be unveiled as a prototype at the Eurosatory defense fair, which is opening near Paris. This initiative is part of a broader trend of increased defense spending across European countries, influenced by Russia's invasion of Ukraine and shifts in international foreign policy.
Renault has previously responded to requests from the French defense ministry for contributions to military projects, including a separate plan to produce aerial drones with Turgis Gaillard. In a past contract, Nexter, Renault Trucks Defense, and Thales received an order from the French Procurement Agency (DGA) for 319 GRIFFON and 20 JAGUAR vehicles as part of the Multi-role Armored Vehicle contract, supporting the SCORPION program.
