Range Rover is set to launch the GT, marking the brand's first foray into a vehicle that is not an SUV. This new model, distinct from a replacement for the Velar, is designed as a four-door grand tourer. Prototypes previously seen were identified as the GT, tested in various climates. The GT will be the first vehicle from Jaguar Land Rover to employ the new EMA flexible platform, engineered for powertrain versatility. Initially, the Range Rover GT will be a full battery electric vehicle, with plans for a hybrid EV variant to be introduced later. Martin Limpert, managing director of Range Rover, stated that the GT formula has been reinterpreted in a sophisticated, uniquely Range Rover manner, resulting in what he described as the 'most car-like, yet unmistakably capable, Range Rover ever created.' The interior of the GT represents a departure from the brand's SUV cabins, adopting an ultraminimalist aesthetic while retaining essential physical controls. It features OLED screens for the main instrument display and infotainment touchscreen, with a standard head-up display. The EMA platform complements the existing MLA and JEA platforms used by Range Rover and Jaguar, respectively.
