Polish qualifier Maja Chwalinska, aged 24, has reached the French Open final. Her progression through the tournament has been described as a fairytale run, making her the first woman to achieve this as a qualifier. Chwalinska secured her spot in the final by defeating Diana Shnaider with a score of 7-6 (4) 6-4, marking her ninth consecutive victory at Roland Garros. She will face Russian teenager Mirra Andreeva in the final. Chwalinska had never made it into the French Open field before, but on Saturday she'll have the chance to become only the second qualifier to win a Grand Slam tournament after Emma Raducanu won the 2021 US Open. At just 19 years old, budding Russian star Mirra Andreeva has reached her first Grand Slam final.
