Qatar Racing has taken over the title sponsorship of British Champions Day at Ascot for the next three editions, beginning this year. The racing empire of Qatari royal Sheikh Fahad bin Abdullah Al Thani, Qatar Racing, replaces QIPCO, which had sponsored the event since its inception in 2011.
Sheikh Fahad stated that the title sponsorship transfer to Qatar Racing reflects the continued commitment of his brothers to British racing and particularly that of QIPCO chairman HH Sheikh Hamad Al Thani. He emphasized that the family's ambition to support the best of British racing remains strong.
British Champions Day, scheduled for October 17, is the culmination of the Flat racing season. It features five Group 1 races and the crowning of the Champion Jockey. Nick Smith, Director of Racing and Public Affairs at Ascot Racecourse, expressed gratitude for the longstanding support and anticipation for building on the event's success under its new brand name.
