Nissan Motor has launched a completely redesigned Elgrand premium minivan in Japan, marking the model's first significant overhaul in 16 years. This move is central to the automaker's strategy to revitalize domestic sales and achieve a business turnaround.
The new Elgrand, unveiled at the Japan Mobility Show 2025, embodies Nissan's 'Timeless Japanese Futurism' design philosophy, drawing inspiration from traditional Japanese craftsmanship. Its exterior features an imposing front grille with kumiko patterns and a distinctive 'Fuji Dawn' paint color. The interior is designed as a private lounge, with zero gravity captain's chairs upholstered in TailorFit leather, woodgrain accents, and 64-color ambient lighting.
Technologically, the Elgrand is powered by Nissan's third-generation e-POWER hybrid system, which drives the wheels entirely by electric motors while a generator engine recharges the battery. It is also the first Nissan model to feature the updated e-4ORCE electric-drive all-wheel control system, designed to enhance handling and stability. The vehicle includes twin 14.3-inch displays, physical controls, and an optional 22-speaker Bose sound system.
Nissan's latest ProPILOT driver assistance suite is included, offering hands-off operation at speeds below 50 km/h, with an optional ProPILOT 2.0 system for hands-free highway driving and lane change assistance. The company also confirmed the upcoming launch of the Patrol full-size off-road SUV in Japan for the first half of fiscal year 2027.
