Aerospace startup JetZero has broken ground on its new $4.7 billion plant in Greensboro, North Carolina, which will manufacture its Z4 jets. The facility is expected to create over 14,500 jobs and begin deliveries in the early 2030s.
The development marks a significant step for JetZero in its ambition to produce a new generation of fuel-efficient aircraft, potentially impacting the commercial aviation and defense sectors.
California-based aerospace start-up, JetZero, has broken ground at its recently selected $4.7 billion plant location in Greensboro, North Carolina. The company plans to build its 250-passenger Z4 jets at the 8 million sq ft site, with deliveries estimated to begin in the early 2030s. The facility is designed to produce up to 20 Z4 planes per month by the late 2030s. JetZero states the Z4 is designed to achieve up to 50% better fuel efficiency over its 5,000-nautical mile range. The Greensboro plant location was revealed on June 12. Upon completion, the plant is expected to employ more than 14,500 workers. JetZero is also developing military variants of its Z4 model, including capabilities for aerial refueling and transport.
