Golden Eagle Luxury Trains has refreshed its 'Balkan Explorer' rail route, a 12-day journey linking Venice with Istanbul. The updated itinerary now includes an overnight stay in Belgrade, new stops in Pula and Rijeka, Croatia, and extended time in Bosnia and Herzegovina, with additional focus on Sarajevo and Mostar. The route also features an exclusive after-hours visit to the Postojna Cave system in Slovenia. Passengers travel aboard the Golden Eagle Danube Express, which offers en-suite cabins and restaurant cars. Off-train excursions are included. Upcoming departures are scheduled for October 2, 2026, and May 7, September 10, and October 19, 2027.
