The National Grain and Feed Association (NGFA) has announced that Evan Dean has joined the organization as its new vice president of government and legislative affairs, effective July 13. In this capacity, Dean will spearhead the association's federal advocacy initiatives and work to advance its policy objectives on behalf of the grain, feed, processing, and export sectors.
Dean brings extensive experience from Capitol Hill, having most recently served as legislative director for U.S. Representative Mike Flood (R-Neb.). In that role, he was instrumental in advising Congressman Flood on legislative strategy and policy, overseeing a broad portfolio that included agriculture, trade, energy, transportation, and telecommunications. He also managed the legislative team and fostered collaborations with congressional offices, federal agencies, industry stakeholders, and agricultural organizations.
His prior roles within Congressman Flood's office included serving as a legislative assistant, where he managed policy areas such as agriculture, trade, appropriations, energy, telecommunications, and natural resources. During this time, Dean contributed to advancing sustainable aviation fuel initiatives, securing federal funding for agricultural research, and engaging with agricultural stakeholders. He also focused on local transportation priorities to improve infrastructure and reduce logistical barriers.
Before his work with Congressman Flood, Dean held positions as a legislative correspondent for Congressman Greg Pence (R-Ind.) and worked in the office of Senator Thom Tillis (R-N.C.). Dean holds a bachelor's degree in public policy leadership from the University of Mississippi, graduating magna cum laude.
