Esquire magazine has unveiled its inaugural Hotel Hall of Fame, recognizing 21 hotels globally that have achieved iconic status and demonstrated a lasting impact on their locales. The list prioritizes properties with a history of at least five years, rather than focusing solely on new openings.
Europe features prominently, with nine distinguished hotels making the cut. These selections span France, Italy, Monaco, Switzerland, the UK, and Ireland, collectively embodying over a century of hospitality excellence. Among the European honorees are Parisian landmarks Hôtel de Crillon and Le Meurice, two celebrated hotels on Lake Como, Grand Hotel Villa Serbelloni and Grand Hotel Tremezzo, and Rome's Hotel Eden.
Monaco's legendary Hôtel de Paris Monte-Carlo and Switzerland's alpine retreat, Badrutt’s Palace in St. Moritz, also received recognition. The UK and Ireland are represented by London’s Hotel Café Royal and Ballyfin Demesne in County Laois.
Madison Vain, Executive Editor at Esquire, commented on the significance of sustained excellence, stating, “Being great for any span of time is hard work; doing so for years on end is downright remarkable.” The magazine noted that for these hotels, their reign shows no sign of ending.
